Description

Headquartered in Cadoneghe, Italy, La Palma ensures the quality of its products at its plant, where furniture is engineered and developed. The company's style is rooted in "rational aesthetics" and natural materials—"a style that creates a refined and functional room." La Palma uses woods from controlled plantations, as well as organic materials such as leather, wicker, and glass.

  • Ap— This award-winning stool by Shin Azumi (Good Design Award) is a conceptual piece that experiments with the possibilities of bent plywood: "The aim was not only to explore sculptural beauty, but to also maximize functionality within a minimal structure." The resulting piece features a mono-coque structure created from one sheet of plywood, a construction that enables the body and seat of the stool "to seamlessly merge from one to the other in a single fluid motion." An artistic and sculptural piece, Ap is also stackable. Available in blanched oak, walnut canaletto, oak dark walnut, and black open pore, Ap is a functional and beautiful object—a miniature monolithic sculpture.
  • Cox— Designed by Andreas Ostwald and Klaus Nolting of ON Industriedesign, Cox is a chair with a 3D veneer shell on a base of sandblasted stainless steel. Available as a swivel chair with a round base or with four slender legs, Cox highlights the possibilities of its material. The bent wood forms a smooth and sinuous seat that's as comfortable as it is fetching. The chair is available in four wood finishes and comes with an optional upholstered leather seat. As graceful as the wings of a bird in flight, Cox illustrates the creative possibilities of bent plywood.
  • OC-Chair— A generous lounge chair with a welcoming shape, OC-Chair is the creation of designer Simon Pengelly. The combination of 3D molded wood and a sandblasted tubular steel base offers an interesting shape and a flexible seat that “provides a high level of comfort.” London-based Pengelly designs pragmatic and intelligent furniture with “lightness and reduction, understated elegance, simplicity, and trademark timeless appeal.” OC-Chair exemplifies his aesthetic approach. The bent wood is available in blanched oak, oak dark walnut, and black open pore. La Palma offers the chair in nine Hallingdal fabrics and twelve Steelcut fabrics, as well as leather.

La Palma's striking furniture features classic lines and sculptural forms, creating furniture "that links with clear proportions all the components of the project and aims at getting a universal product, that will last forever." Among its products, many have received design awards such as the FX International Interior Design Award and the Good Design Award. Thanks to its work with talented designers, La Palma produces pieces that are memorable, functional, and visually arresting—work that erases the line between design and art.
